forcing VM to close?

My VM lives on my pen drive and somehow came unplugged and now it's just a black screen which will not close. I close and open vmware and nothing changes. I right click => close and it says "VM busy, wait for it to be finished before you close"

I am frustrated and trying to study and I need to get to this VM. Is there a way to force it closed? I also tried "send ctrl alt del and that didn't work either :-(

Have you tried kill -9 ?

kill -9 in windows?

I rebooted windows and that worked but then I had to rename the vm too. Now I'm having the problem that my vm is 3.6G but then upon opening, it balloons to 4.2 G which makes it crash on my 4.0G USB drive. Grrr.

I was just about to delete an email from newegg.com when I saw the $19.99 for 16 GB flash drive. They are selling Corsair 16 GB flash drives for $19.99 (after $20 rebate and using $5 promo code EMCBACBBH). This would hold several VMs and some ISOs as well!
