root problem 4

Postby patrick weaver on Mon Oct 20, 2008 12:55 pm

To solve root problem 4 I am coming up against a "read-only filesystem" I understand that there is a mount cmd to remount the / filesystem as read-write butvI am having bad luck finding out what it is. -P (If we look in /boot there appears to be no grub.conf. I have an extra on rescue.flp but cannot do the copy cmd)

Hint:

Use the search box in this forum (see it in the upper right?) .... search for mount.
... or read yesterday's posts on this topic

Trying to edit a file on a filesystem that has been mounted read-only is quite difficult.
Fortunately, you can remount even the root filesystem rw with the following command:

mount -o remount,rw /dev/sda? /

Then you can fix the problem.
