GIMLI!!

Postby denise gant on Thu Nov 06, 2008 1:11 pm

I continue to have trouble when I change Gimli's UID. from 'gimli' I issue the cmd: su -; then I issue: usermod -u 800 gimli. When I sign back on as Gimli, everything goes haywire. Any help :?:

Not sure ... what are the specifics regarding "haywire" ?

Something to think about ... Does Gimli have files in his home directory that he no longer owns because of the UID change? (don't forget to look at the hidden files) Does he have permission to access all his files in his home directory? Are these the files created and used when running gnome desktop?

Another thought ... delete Gimli's account and try again, this time in run level 3. Any difference? There should be a lot less hidden files in his directory that are created when you run gnome desktop.
