All I get is my prompt returned to me. Am I supposed to see something? My lab has been ready to go except I am unsure about this command....did I somehow disable it?

Did anybody out there get anything to happen when they typed this command (Lab 10 page 2 #2 under .bashrc and .bash_profile section)
All I get is my prompt returned to me. Am I supposed to see something? My lab has been ready to go except I am unsure about this command....did I somehow disable it?
