Are VM's more secure?

Postby danielberm on Tue Mar 03, 2009 3:27 pm

Hi folks,

I've been looking into the idea of using VM's to quarantine applications. For example, you can have different VM's running on your system to effectively create walls between your host system and the VM's themselves. This would allow you to lets say download questionable content on a temporary VM and protect your core system from viruses/etc.

I've read a couple of articles on the topic but am more or less unsure if this would be worth the effort.

Any thoughts?

I think that because your vm is going to be networked, at least to the host system via a "bridged" NIC, it is a risk.
