MSDN AA registration and download

Have you been able to register and download from the MSDN Academic Alliance site?

I've heard "successful downloads" from one student and "Student ID does not exist ... error message" from others.

Please post here if it is working or not for you.

Hi Rich,

I was able to successfully login and download software from MSDN AA. A caveat for Linux users- when downloading any software, you must download an .exe file so you must either download the .exe file in to a VM running Windows or have WINE successfully installed on your computer. Probably not very interesting to most, but my username and password have remained the same as when I first registered for MSDN AA a few semesters ago. Interesting to me at least

Yes-
I was one who wrote that I succesfully registered using my Cabrillo student I.D. (leading zeros included) and then could not log in. What I didn't realize was Microsoft sent a reply (to the e-mail address I gave when registering) telling me my username was my e-mail address and my password the same I gave when registering. Using those criteria I successfully logged in and downloaded my free Server 2008 and Vista Business. Not too shabby...

Hi Rich,

I can't login. I tried to register, but it says there is already an account with the same student identifier (probably form when I registered a few years ago).

So I tried to retrieve my password, and I get prompted for my username. Since it's been a couple of years, I don't remember my username. There is no procedure (at least that I could find) for retrieving your username.

Any ideas?

* Someone has already selected the email address you entered. Please specify another one.

So, I figured that meant the account was already set up. I tried to login and this what I get:
Please correct the following errors:

* The Username and Password you entered are not valid in this system.

There are two possible causes for this:
1. You entered your Username or password incorrectly, or
2. Your account has been disabled due to a change in your academic status. Your status may have changed as a result of withdrawing from a course(s) or graduating from school.

I don't get it???
