redirecting output from telent session to a file

trying to redirect the output of telent server 110 to a file to use to turn in for the lab, I find that it will send the responses from the server to the file but not the commands used to elicit the responses.

only see
+OK hello from hershey
+OK password required

instead of
+OK hello from hershey
user greg
+OK password required
pass ********
+OK .....

have also tried to redirect the stderr to stdout, but that made no difference.

I recommend doing copy and paste to capture this. Either use Putty to ssh into the VM or in the VM run vmware-toolbox.pl in the background to enable copy & paste. - Rich

found a good solution to redirecting the full output to a file.
There is a command called script.
anything that goes on after entering that command gets written to a file when you exit from script.
it shows both sides of the telnet conversation as well in the file.
