Backing up my work?

Postby Debbie Baratz on Thu Nov 28, 2013 5:39 pm

Will any work done on the temp server be migrated back to the original Opus when that server is functioning again?
If not, HOW does one go about backing up work done?
(I didn't do anything since class on Tuesday, so I wasn't concerned about that part.)

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Make backup copies as you work in your bin directory on Son-of-Opus using:
cp myscript myscript.v2
cp myscript myscript.v3
and so forth ...

To transfer back to Opus:

1) You can copy and paste the contents of your modified script into your regular email. Then use copy and paste from the email, when we get back on Opus again, to your file there.

2) Or you can copy the files between servers. On Opus, from your own bin directory use:
scp bardeb90@son-of-opus:bin/myscript.v2 .
scp bardeb90@son-of-opus:bin/myscript.v3 .
and so forth ...
(copies the files from your bin directory on son-of-opus to the same directory on opus)
