Rich,
I was fooling around with the banner command on my home computer and it acts nothing like it does when I'm on opus. What gives!?

What I've noticed is that everywhere else I use banner it prints vertically, at 90 degrees if you will. This is so you can print long banners on a printer. Why it prints horizontally on opus I don't know. I have found no command option to control that. I'm not sure if that's the "difference" you were talking about but that's what I see.

A while back I did a google search on banner. The gist of what I saw was that banner is not very flexible and there are other programs out there that let you have more choice on the banner output. I don't remember the program names.

the one on opus is a program written by (i cant remember his name at the moment, but its a cabrillo staff person)

so it is not the generic banner you would find floating around

hence the difference in behaviours
