All the systems in the "Icebox" are not responding ... opus, pengo, webhawks. I searched my email and found this message. Looks like I parked this notice in the part of my brain that doesn't work so well! I'm extending the due date for Lab 8 till Thursday.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The IT department just sent an email to the entire campus
informing us of network down time on November 11th. THIS
INCLUDES THE BLACKBOARD SERVER.
PLEASE, notify all your students!!
See an except from Bob Owen's message below:
"The first major event that will occur will be to switch
out a piece of equipment called a “core switch.” A core
switch acts as the college’s primary all-campus data
traffic cop, routing information to whichever building and
PC it needs to get to. We plan to do this conversion on
Tuesday, November 11th, which is a holiday for the college.
This means that all network services – including e-mail,
the web page, Internet access, and Blackboard – will be
unavailable all day Tuesday, November 11th. These services
should be available again on Wednesday morning, November
12th. Please note that telephone service on our old
telephone system will be unaffected."
