What Shell Prompt????
What shell prompt are we supposed to be taking these three lines from?

you arent taking them from anywhere

you enter them from your present location (the shell prompt) into the shell prompt

in other words... just type those 3 things on separate lines just like they appear in the lab

$ is a prompt character (for us anyway since that can be changed)

FYI, Steps 10 - 11, show another aspect of editing .... the editing of command lines. When you are logged in to Opus you are running the bash shell. bash supports editing of command lines. Whenever you hear the term "shell prompt" just think of the text string being printed by bash to prompt you for the next command. The shell prompt we are using is dynamic and changes based on the current directory. The last character of the prompt string we are using is a $.

To see what your current shell prompt setting do: [b]echo $PS1[/b]
